Pandemic accommodations | Individual & family plans

We hope you and your family are staying healthy and well during the COVID-19 pandemic. It has disrupted dental care, but we want you to get the preventive care you need. Not just now that dental offices are reopening, but every year you're with Delta Dental.

That's why starting July 1, 2020, a feature called Prevention Pays is being included in your dental plan at no additional premium cost. On average, the change extends an additional $500 in coverage every year!

There will also be no premium increase applied to an individual or family plan renewed from May 2020 through April 2021.

We understand many are faced with difficult decisions because of the pandemic. If you need to cancel your current dental plan, there are special pandemic accommodations we’re making to welcome you back as soon as possible.

  • The normal two-year waiting period to re-enroll in our individual and family plans is waived because of the pandemic.  You may re-enroll as quickly as the first day of the next month after you notify us that you want to start coverage again; and
  • If you have been on our plan at least 12 continuous months before canceling your current plan, we will also waive any waiting periods for coverage of certain procedures when you re-enroll. For example, you wouldn't need to wait 12 months before benefits would cover a crown, root canal, etc.

You are welcome to contact us at 877-841-1478 or customer.service@deltadentalsd.com if you have any questions. We're proud to be your partners in oral health.
