February is one of our favorite months of the year, and it’s surely not because of the short cold winter days. It’s National Children’s Dental Health Month!
Using the Children’s Dental Health holiday is a great way to begin the conversation of oral health and dental hygiene with kids!
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, our team of oral health educators is unable to make their normal in-person visits to schools and childcare programs across South Dakota.
Even so, our team can’t be everywhere, so this February is the perfect one to help and support South Dakota’s teachers, parents, and childcare program staff with a tool to teach those same lessons to kids in a visually appealing way.
We’ve created a fun new video that features our very own Jean Gross, RDH, using magic tricks and puppet assistants to teach kids about keeping their mouths healthy.
“The Magic of Clean Teeth” with Jean the Hygienist is primarily for kids in pre-K through 3rd grade but includes reminders we can all use about proper brushing techniques and healthy eating.
We invite elementary school teachers, school nurses, healthcare organizations, child-care organizations, and parents to use our video as a teaching opportunity.
Use the video as a stand-alone educational tool to get kids excited about brushing and flossing their teeth or add your own creative ideas and activities to help instill good oral health habits with your kids. If you need some creative ideas, you can visit our blog that has everything from fun craft ideas, to learning more about the tooth fairy.
Sit down with your kids and enjoy the amazing Jean and her assistant Albert in the video below! We’d love to hear how you’re using the video, see pictures of your classroom watching, or anything else you’re doing with your children by tagging us in your Facebook posts (@DeltaDentalSD), or commenting on one of our posts on our Facebook page, found here.
