Using supplies you already have around the house to make a Father’s Day card he won’t soon forget! This project uses recycled toothbrushes and paint made from baking soda to design a one-of-a-kind card for Dad’s special day.

Here's what you'll need:

Supplies:

  • Baking soda
  • Water
  • Food coloring
  • Cups
  • Old toothbrush(es)
  • Heavyweight paper

Steps

  1. Measure baking soda into cups.
  2. Measure out an equal amount of water into your measuring cup.
  3. Add food coloring dye to water.
  4. Pour the colored water into one of the cups of baking soda.
  5. Mix thoroughly to ensure a smooth consistency that isn’t runny or thick.
  6. Repeat the above steps for additional colors.
  7. Use your recycled toothbrush to paint onto plain construction paper.
