Underwriting and Sales Support Specialist

The Underwriting and Sales Support Specialist will perform thorough statistical analysis to support the development of highly effective sales and growth strategies for the organization.

The position will work closely with the Marketing and Sales Support Specialist, existing and new DDSD groups/clients, and colleagues in other DDSD departments.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Analyze statistical data using specialist tools to determine premiums for filing rates, renewing business, and closing new client contracts
  • Collect background information and assessments of risk to develop and examine insurance proposals and determine appropriate course of action
  • Write quotes and negotiate terms with brokers and clients
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with insurance brokers and customers
  • Assist the group administration team with all stages of the sales process with an emphasis on data analysis and report preparation
  • Develop processes for improved data analysis and reporting

Experience and qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, mathematics, statistics, or similar field
  • Exceptional mathematical and statistical knowledge and understanding
  • Experience with spreadsheets and databases
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to translate data and complex statistics into usable information
  • Knowledge of insurance industry is helpful but not required
