Business Intelligence Manager


The Business Intelligence Manager is responsible for providing advanced technical skills and leadership in the design, control, and use of enterprise data reporting and will ensure reports meet the reporting needs across the organization. This includes identifying data needs and reviewing statistical data and communicating the data reporting strategy to both business and technical leadership.
 

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with various Delta Dental teams on data analysis needs and work with these teams to define the purpose and scope of analysis, perform the analysis, and communicate the results;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and other appropriate departments to design new solutions to meet the needs of the organizations in regard to business intelligence reporting;
  • Develop solutions to streamline data analysis to support departmental and company-wide data needs more effectively and efficiently;
  • Maintain and monitor key performance and productivity indicators and departmental statistics;
  • Create and distribute reports used by the management team and other key stakeholders to understand and manage DDSD’s business. Duties include but are not limited to, identifying key areas of interest, creating user-friendly reports, verifying the accuracy of the results provided, improving process efficiency, identifying new or obsolete reporting needs, and communicating results, including investigating and providing commentary on key drivers;
  • Manage data project portal requests; including menu driven options for end users, the possible development of dashboards, etc.;
  • Provide business user assistance and direction when requesting data and business intelligence services;
  • Manage reoccurring report schedules;
  • Recommend, analyze and contribute to successful results in underwriting and budgeting; and
  • Perform Quality Assurance (QA) tasks as needed.

Education, experience & proficiencies

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required; MBA is preferred;
  • Demonstrated experience in the areas of statistical analysis, data trending, data forecasting, development of business intelligence reporting;
  • Experience in the Insurance or Healthcare industries is helpful;
  • Understanding of project management and experience in gathering and analyzing business requirements;
  • Proficiency of relational database concepts including fundamental proficiency in a query language;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel & Access & SQL Server Management;
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with non-technical staff and with members of interdisciplinary teams;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Ability to establish priorities and make decisions and to work independently and accurately, using good analytical and organizational skills
